Check box to stay logged in:

If you check the "stay logged in" checkbox, you won't have to sign in each time you come back when on this computer. Instead, you will be automatically logged in and taken directly to the schedule. The "stay logged in" feature lasts approximately thirty days (or until you either click the "Log Out" button or clear your browser's cookies).

Additionally, simply refreshing your window will log you in if you are timed out of the system after a period of inactivity. This means, for example, that you can go to the "Control Panel," walk away from your computer for a few hours, and simply click "refresh" when returning to begin working with the control panel again.

If you use a shared or public computer (such as in a computer lab or library), you should not check the "stay logged in" checkbox.

Announcements

****NOTE - PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING WC POLICIES - NON-COMPLIANCE MIGHT BLOCK YOU FROM THE SYSTEM****

Note that 30 minute appointments are actually 25 minutes and 1 and 2 hour appointments are 50 minutes and 1 hr and 50 minutes respectively.

**** NEW**** The Writing Center in Second Life is now open 9am -10pm, M-Th, 9-2 F. Once you have created your online appointment, you will receive an email with further instructions. See you in Second Life.

Appointments can only be made two weeks in advance. If you have to miss an appointment, please cancel 12 hours in advance to open up the appointment for another client.

Students who are late for their appointments may forfeit their slot to walk-in clients. Please call if you know you will be late (432-3610).

To get the best feedback possible, students coming in for 2 appointments each week need to work with at least 2 different consultants on an equal basis (e.g., two hours with each consultant).

Students are limited to 2 appointments per week and no more than one appointment per day (not to exceed 2 in one week) across all writing center locations.

Making appointments using second accounts or friends accounts is strictly against WC policy and offenders will be blocked from the system immediately and for the duration of the semester.

Established primarily to provide writing workshop support to students and assistance to faculty interested in using writing to engage students in active learning and thereby in improving the quality and range of their students' literacy, the Writing Center in Michigan State University conceives its task broadly. Mindful that literacy is learned through use across contexts and over a lifetime, in addition to working to improve the quality and range of literacy in MSU, the Center has reached out to involve itself in the teaching and uses of literacy in both the communities and schools that send students to MSU and the communities and workplaces that students enter when they leave MSU.
